We had to cross this once peacefull river after heavy rain on a trek in colombia to reach our campsite.

Ganges River, Varanasi, at sunrise.
After two days of perfectly bland overcast and featureless skies, clouds slowly started to coalesce out of the sky, with the sun promising to soon reveal itself. As the magic started to happen, I rushed to the edge of the lake to witness a perfect moment of tranquility, where wind and water, sky and lake, were in perfect harmony, waves disappeared, and the surface of this massive lake grew as still as a mirror for as far as I could see.
I can gaze endlessly at the shapes and forms of water in motion, and nowhere is this more beautiful than at the top of a waterfall, where the stream of water is moving stately - yet ever more rapidly - ready to go tumble down to the depths below. This particular waterfall carries the name of Haruru Falls, which can be found a short and beautiful walk out from Paihia at the Bay of Islands.
